Job Description

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for preparing, administering, and managing specialized anesthesia services for patients across the lifespan undergoing surgical, obstetric, and diagnostic procedures. The role ensures the successful execution of pre-anesthesia assessments, induction and maintenance of general or regional anesthesia, and post-operative emergence tracking while preserving absolute patient physiological stability and safety.

Required Qualifications * Master's or Doctoral degree in Nurse Anesthesia from a program accredited by the COA.

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Provider (CRNA) license in Alabama.

  • Valid national certification via the NBCRNA along with active ACLS, PALS, and BLS credentials.

Preferred Skills * Exceptional airway management, peripheral nerve block placement, and invasive line tracking capabilities.

  • Calm demeanor under fast-paced trauma environments and excellent teamwork mechanics.

Experience Required Completion of a formalized clinical nurse anesthesia track with demonstrated technical competency across general, ortho, and high-acuity surgical cases.

Responsibilities Duties:

Key Responsibilities * Coordinate and execute patient-specific anesthesia care plans, evaluating airway physics, physical history, and diagnostic lab layouts.

  • Prepare anesthesia equipment, gas delivery arrays, vaporizers, and emergency resuscitation pharmacology prior to operative entry.

  • Administer general, regional, local, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC) utilizing advanced clinical techniques.

  • Coordinate with attending anesthesiologists, primary operating surgeons, scrub technicians, and post-anesthesia recovery units (PACU).

  • Monitor vital parameters continuously during surgical interventions, promptly addressing hemodynamic instability, fluid deficits, or airway resistance.

  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive anesthesia records, documenting all agents, physiological metrics, and intraoperative timings.
